According to a poll conducted by the Clean Energy Council, 80 per cent of Australians support renewable energy. Renewable energy is the key to a sustainable future for Australia and the rest of the world.
Along with initiatives such as the Renewable Energy Target, the clean energy sector has generated tens of thousands of jobs as billions of dollars in investment. In addition to the economic benefits of renewable energy such as solar power, it also helps protect against the rising cost of fossil fuels with figures showing that the RET will have coal fired generation around 12 per cent lower than originally predicted by 2030.
Renewable energy also helps reduce the country’s greenhouse gas emissions with figures showing that the RET has already reduced Australia’s carbon emissions by 22.5 megatonnes.
Finally and most importantly, sources of renewable energy such as the installation of solar panels give households the option to fight against rising electricity bills, reducing their reliance on fossil fuel generated electricity from the grid.
