As Australia’s largest solar power company, True Value Solar aims to provide all customers with affordable solar power systems by buying in bulk directly from manufacturers. The cost of a solar system including solar panels and inverter depends on numerous factors including the buying power of the company, the size of the solar system and the quality of the solar products.
In Australia, the government has provided subsidies to assist in reducing the cost of a solar system including the Small-scale technology certificates (STC’s) which are generated through the installation of an eligible renewable system, that may include a residential solar system.
The STC’s are created in an online REC registry and represents a tradable commodity, and are most commonly assigned to agents, such as True Value Solar during the purchase of a solar system to reduce the upfront cost of the solar system.
To assist in further reducing the cost the Australian government offers the Solar Credits scheme allows the amount of STC’s generated to be multiplied. The multiplier currently sits at 2, until 30 June 2013.
These mechanisms all assist in reducing the cost of solar panels and allow the purchase of a solar system to be more affordable to all Australian households.
