The Riverine Herald today mentioned that the Victorian Government announced it would provide $1 million for a solar power system in Gannawarra Shire this Monday. The government has also provided an additional $41 million in funding for the Energy Technology Innovation Strategy as part of the 2011-12 Victorian budget.
At a closer glance, Sustainability Victoria has also implemented pro-solar initiatives on top of the standard STC and Feed-in tariffs. This is the “Solar Cities Program,” costing $75 million aims to support sustainable models of electricity supply and use in grid-connected urban suburbs across Australia.
It supports large scale trials for both existing and new residential and commercial buildings. The two Victorian projects that have been announced as successful so far are Central Victorian Solar Cities and Coburg Solar Village.
