New Jersey has held a ceremony at the end of July to convert a brownfield site into a 1 megawatt solar power farm. Following California, New Jersey is a growing solar powered state with many initiatives of promoting solar photovoltaics including a “Solar 4 All” loan program with 223 megawatts of solar power currently approved, and room to potentially add a further 136 megawatts of grid connected solar power projects. The projects will focus on putting solar panels on landfills and brownfield sites, warehouse roofs, and large parking lots. Currently, New Jersey has 174 megawatts of installed solar photovoltaic capacity, making it the highest installed amount across the US this quarter.
