As electricity prices continue to rise, most households seek for alternative solutions to save themselves money now and in the future. An obvious option would be to switch to solar however there seems to be a general misconception in the public that solar power is simply too expensive to afford.
However according to Renew Economy, this is not the case. The continuous improvements in solar technology, solar panels and solar power have resulted in costs dropping by 75 per cent in the last four years and 45 per cent in the last 12 months alone.
The price competitiveness of solar photovoltaics are actually close to that of fossil fuel generated power. According to figures generated by Michael Liebreich, CEO of BNEF at the World Renewable Energy Forum, Australian solar power prices have already been above price parity since 2010 and will only continue to do so into 2025. The solar price figures are also supported by McKinsey and Co. saying that solar photovoltaic is already competitive in four out of five key global energy market types.
With these figures in mind, there is no reason why anyone should not install a solar power system and start saving with energy generated from the sun.
