A recent report has shown that the price of solar power systems in Winitana, New Zealand have dropped by 50 per cent in the past 18 months. Coupled with the continuous rise in electricity prices, households are feeling more pressure and are looking for further government support to be able to install solar power systems on their rooftops. The Sustainable Electricity Association of New Zealand have showed figures that 400 solar power systems in the Winitana area were installed last year, compared to 180 solar power systems
the year before. Mike Underhill, Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) has also said that solar is the cheapest source of renewable electricity generation.
