Arava Power said that it secured $204 million in funding to build eight medium sized solar power energy fields. The funding is regarded as the largest in Israel’s solar power industry. This comes in line with Israel’s governments recently set goal to generate 10 per cent of its energy from renewable resources including solar power.
The solar power fields will total to a generation of 35 megawatts of solar generated electricity and will be built by Siemens. Construction is set to begin in the next few months on the
first five of the fields. Israel’s desert environment is said to be favourable for solar power and is capable of harnessing the most energy from the sun.
